There’s an interesting press release at StrategyAnalytics claiming that Android smartphone shipments will grow 900 percent in 2009.
“Android is expanding from a low base and it is consequently outgrowing the iPhone OS from Apple, which we estimate will grow at a relatively lower 79 percent annually in 2009.”
T-Mobile recently announced they have shipped about 1 million devices in the US and 100,000 in the UK. However, some of these sales were already in 2009. So we can say it will be less than 10 million for the year. Remember, this is an analyst guess which could be wildly out either way.
